AutoSub: Keeping Our Camp Arson-Free Since 2000
Main Fire Safety Points
- EDUCATION:
Camp Members Dealing With Fire Are Encouraged To Read: - SAFE STRUCTURES:
Our public structures are built around a steel scaffolding framework, covered in fabric & tarp material. There is not a whole lot of our camp which is susceptible to burning. - RESPONSIBLE USE OF FIRE:
We understand the risks involved in using fire. Unattended open flames are not allowed in our camp, & any art using fire is planned with public safety in mind. Any use of fire will always be monitored by an AutoSub camp member who is aware of the safety precautions.... AND who is SOBER! - PREVENTION:
We plan to have properly rated fire extinguishers & blankets in all of the main areas of our camp. Several camp members are trained wilderness first aid providers. And we'll have a well stocked first aid kit as well as know the location of the nearest BM emergency services area. - BURN SCARS:
No part of our camp or art is intended to burn (and most of it isn't combustible). So, we do not expect to have to deal with burn scars.

No pyrotechnics to be used - Burn Scar Protection Plan / Burn Platform:
Nothing we plan to do will leave burn scars. The Burn Barrel, Thanks Brent! that we are applying for will be elevated 8-inches off of the ground on a custom stand, Thanks Pam! with a staked down aluminum reflector underneath. - Leave No Trace:
We do not have anything to burn. Our structure is largely made of steel, so there isn't much to burn even in the case of an accidental fire.
